Practice leader for Corporate Clients practice, housing a team that is dedicated to serve large multinational companies (Dutch headquartered or with a large Dutch presence). Niels has been practicing tax law for nearly 25 years, focusing on supporting transformational projects (deals and business change) for one part and for another acting as trusted counsel to in-house tax teams for a range of tax matters. Former board president of the Dutch Order of Tax Advisers, the 6,000 member strong professional body of professionals with an academic degree in (mostly) tax law.

• Advised in tax aspects of divestment of several business lines from a global industrial conglomerate, supporting carve-out and deal phases end-to-end.
• Advised tax aspects of a corporate level restructuring of a large multinational where treasury and holding functions were reorganized and made fit for future purpose.
• Advised in variety of tax controversy issues, ranging from state audits and cross-border tax disputes with a view to settling matters in a mutually satisfactory manner.
• Advised several in-house tax departments on tax function benchmarking taking into account industry peers and best practices tax function operating models
