KPMG Portugal operates a very large practice, working across all areas of direct and indirect taxation. Its practice focuses on the financial sector, including corporate taxation and indirect taxation. It also has a growing private client advisory department following the creation of the Portuguese incentive plans. Head of tax is partner Luís Magalhães. Nine partners are allocated across the Lisbon and Porto offices. Partner Ricardo Girão is the indirect specialist and Filipe Grenho is based in financial services tax.

The firm provided buy-side tax due diligence, tax structuring and SPV advice to a global supermarket. It also provided intragroup negotiation and insurance evaluation as part of its transfer pricing services.
