The tax department at Deloitte Brazil is led by Luiz Fernando Rezende. It offers a full range of tax law services but specialises in general corporate tax, transfer pricing and indirect tax. It maintains strong relationships with its clients from all around the globe, many of which are multinational groups.
During the research period the firm advised one of the largest multi-brand restaurant operators in Brazil and Latin American. In doing so, the team was able to utilize a new proprietary Deloitte Brazil technology solution (so called D.gger) to seek for VAT opportunities. The use of technology was essential to reduce project timing completion as well as well as to identify VAT issues that would be extremely burdensome if performed manually.
The team recruited two partners:
Rafael Maciel da Costa Oliveira from Avalara and
Carlos Eduardo Eliziario de Lima from Dannemann Siemsen. Additionally, two directors: Marcelo Santana Rezende from EY and
Philip Robert Lejuene from Kelly Services.
