Deloitte Brazil’s tax consulting service, with its team of experienced and market-recognized professionals, is widely recognized as a first-tier service provider in the country. With more than 1,700 skilled professionals located in 15 offices, covering a broad scope of tax services, Deloitte Brazil’s tax team is focused on innovative tax technology. It has more than 150 professionals exclusively dedicated to the development of new tax applications. By combining technology, highly skilled professionals, diversified offerings, and large delivery scale, Deloitte Brazil is assisting clients in their digital transformation journey via three broad impact areas:

  • Function strategy, technology, and process: assisting organizations to identify an appropriate operational model for managing their functional responsibilities, technology, and process support—e.g., data management, analytics, enterprise tax integration—for aspects they choose to insource.
  • Outsourced and managed services: co-sourcing or outsourcing specific processes for organizations—e.g., compliance, reporting, and documentation responsibilities—or assisting an organization to “operate” any aspect, or all, of its functional responsibilities (except decision responsibilities).
  • Advisory: helping organizations understand, manage, and align their domestic, international, or cross-border tax and legal positions, including mergers and acquisitions, transfer pricing advice, and advice for accessing available government incentives.

The flexible service delivery model of Deloitte Brazil and the Deloitte network of member firms enables clients to choose the level of support that is right for them. Services can be provided using a local, global, or regionally coordinated approach to increase efficiency and control over tax activities.

With Deloitte Brazil and the Deloitte network, clients can gain the benefits of global reach while retaining access to local tax knowledge when and where they need it. This means better relationships with revenue authorities, faster responses to regulatory changes, and a tax provider with a deeper understanding of their issues and the environments in which they operate.

Deloitte Brazil’s service delivery model is designed to adapt and evolve as businesses grow and as priorities shift. This enables clients to remain agile and respond quickly and efficiently to marketplace changes.

Considered as one of the most complex areas in the Brazilian tax environment, indirect taxes represent a significant challenge for businesses operating in Brazil. Furthermore, ongoing legislative developments have resulted in new and frequently changing business requirements what has been driving the growth of indirect tax and global trade in Brazil.

Due to the increasing complexities in global and regional supply chains, clients rely on Deloitte for support in managing the numerous indirect tax obligations related to their businesses.

Considering that tax authorities are continuously seeking to enhance and expand their scrutiny of tax returns, as well as their use of technology, the need for indirect tax and global trade services in Brazil will only continue to increase.

Technology is critical in dealing with huge volumes of indirect tax and global trade data and associated complex calculations in a highly volatile legislative environment. Deloitte Brazil addresses this need with innovative in-house developed software tools incorporating analytics and robotics features.

Technology-enabled solutions help us deliver new insights to clients, create efficiencies for internal teams, and provide new career opportunities for Deloitte Brazil’s professionals.

Some of the proprietary in-house developed tax software tools are Tax Scan Analytics TSA, e-Credac Tool, Reintegra Solution, Recof-SPED, PCAT Solutions, Siscomex Extrator, and VAT Tool Kit, among others.

Deloitte Brazil has the ability to deliver the breadth of services offered across the Deloitte organization—which includes Deloitte’s global network of member firms and their related entities—through alignment of our indirect tax and global trade capabilities with the technology and business transformation capabilities of our tax, consulting, and advisory colleagues. This results in deep knowledge of new and upcoming technologies and how they can be beneficial to managing indirect tax and global trade obligations. As an integrated service provider, Deloitte maintains a key position in this area due to the combined capabilities of information technology, business consulting, tax, and other specialist professionals across the Deloitte organization.

  • Calculation of tax credits of a mining company based on a relevant leading case in the Brazilian courts. Deloitte Brazil used tax technology tools (TaxScanAnalytics) to extract information, prepare the calculation, and amend electronic tax returns accordingly.
  • Deloitte Brazil was selected to implement and develop a tax solution called DTE (tax authorities’ mail monitoring), including the development of other automations in a large consumer goods company.
  • Tax consulting support for indirect taxes matters during an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system implementation for a global transport supplier. This involved dealing with several legacy ERP systems and the challenge of transport tax legislation.
