Deloitte

Deloitte South Africa’s tax team has vast experience in transfer pricing planning, transfer pricing compliance, and dispute resolution. Deloitte South Africa is the largest tax and legal practice in Deloitte Africa member firms, which is part of DTTL (Deloitte Touche Tomatsu). It has experience in advising clients in sectors such as consumer goods, financial services, manufacturing, technology, media and telecommunications, and oil and gas. Deloitte South Africa uses digitalisation and automation initiative for reducing human error and increasing efficiency.

Deloitte assisted a client with aligning tax operations with the business strategy along with a finance transformation project. This demanded Deloitte to assist the client in developing a strategy, analysis of functional models, roles and responsibilities, and governance and controls within a tax function and wider business.

EY

The EMEIA Tax Center at EY is organised as a supranational entity covering the entire Europe, Middle East, India and Africa (EMEIA) region, with its Intercompany Effectiveness and operational transfer pricing practice serving clients’ needs across all jurisdictions.

Led by Oslo-based partner Sveinung Baumann-Larsen, it brings together multi-disciplinary experience and resources focused on IT, accounting, and tax from the entire region in its work. This work covers some of the leading global companies in their respective fields and includes those involved in retail and consumer products, energy and pharmaceuticals, to name but a few.

KPMG

KPMG South Africa’s tax team has more than 240 professionals, including 22 partners consisting of chartered accountants, attorneys, economists, scientists, engineers and other professionals. The tax team advises local firms, offshore investors seeking to enter the South African market, trusts and high net worth individuals. KPMG was one of the first big four firms to integrate into tax solutions.

Webber Wentzel

Webber Wentzel’s tax practice includes lawyers and accountants working together to assist clients in all tax legal matters. The tax team’s strengths are in corporate tax, M&A, international tax, tax controversy and transfer pricing. Brian Dennehy heads the corporate, M&A, private equity tax practice working alongside Graham Viljoen, Craig Miller, Donal Fisher-Jeffes and Nicole Paige. The international tax team are experts in this practice, and Anne Bennett is a one of the most experienced in the team. Nina Keyser heads the tax dispute resolution practice; Des Kruger advises on indirect tax; Chetan Vanmali and Karen Miller whose combined experience is more than 20 years, advise on corporate tax for public and private clients. Webber Wentzel has promoted Kyle Beilings to partner.

Viljoen’s team advised CapitalWorks Investment Partners Private Equity in tax structuring relating to a takeover of a listed company on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. The value of the takeover was $66.8 million.
