The tax practice at BBA//Fjeldco is led by Páll Jóhannesson, an experienced practitioner who has worked for several law firms, in addition to his experience with the Icelandic government and working for Big Four companies and banks. The team also includes a dedicated associate, Austri Þorsteinsson, along with several others who contribute to its work. It covers corporate tax, international tax and VAT through tax planning, risk management, due diligence work and tax disputes.
Recent examples of the firm’s work saw it acting as a legal advisor to TM, Kvika banki and Lykill fjármögnun with regard to the tax aspects of their merger, as well as assisting private equity fund SÍA IV with the acquisition of a 12.4% stake of an Israeli tech company.
