World Tax Reviews

Baker McKenzie

Baker McKenzie’s tax department is among the top players in Florida. The Miami tax practice excels in domestic and cross-border tax issues with a focus on tax structuring, M&A, financial transactions, and state and local taxation. The group advises major US and foreign multinational and is active in the representation of wealthy families.

During the research period, the team in Miami, along with tax colleagues in the US and other jurisdictions, represented Whirlpool on tax matters related to the proposed sale of its Embraco Business Unit to the Nidec Corporation. The cash purchase price was of $1.8 billion. Another high-profile mandate was the representation of a client on its internal restructuring. Most of the transactions remained confidential.

In the last 12 months, the firm lost partner Steven Hadjilogiou, attorney Jonathan Keith Hagan and associate Michael Bruno to McDermott Will & Emery.
