TozziniFreire has continued to represent Rumo Malha Norte in a tax litigation case that challenges the Federal tax authority’s assessment due to the misuse of PIS and COFINS tax credits over expenses related to railway infrastructure. If the courts recognize the PIS and COFINS credits over these expenses, the case will likely impact the transport sector, since a huge value of tax credits of PIS and COFINS would be granted to railway companies operating in Brazil.
