CMS Reich Rohrwig Hainz started a tax practice in Slovenia after hiring Wolfgang Auf in July 2009. The practice has now grown to eight practitioners and advises on tax issues in Slovenia and Croatia. The firm is in seven other locations in Austria and south-East Europe and is a member firm of the CMS Alliance that has 59 offices around the world.
Tax litigation has been important in the last few years and the practice benefits from its knowledge of central European and EU law, often successfully representing their clients by reference to European Court of Justice decisions. The practice has been involved in a lot of tax structuring work as well and recently achieved a double non-taxation outcome during an international financing structure.
Clients they have represented this year include General Motors, Johnson Controls, Erste Group Immorent, M2 and E2. The practice mostly represents clients from Germany, Austria and the UK.
