Formerly the tax litigation arm of a big-four firm, Du-Baladad and Associates (BDB Law) became a full-fledged tax firm in 2010, expanding its operations to include a range of services offered by both auditing and law firms. In January 2011, the firm became a member of the international WTS Alliance.
The firm's wider scope of services now include tax compliance, tax reporting, tax return preparation, litigation, corporate tax, tax controversy, tax planning, M&A, financial advisory tax, expatriate tax, transfer pricing and documentation.
The highly recommended Benedicta Du-Baladad heads the tax practice, comprising one other partner and eight fee earners. The team advised a multinational client on restructuring and tax planning, covering issues such as tax minimisation, transfer pricing and permanent establishment issues.
The team was also involved in the restructuring and planning of a debt transaction. By shifting the status of the lender offshore, the client's income benefited from a reduced tax rate under a treaty, and avoided branch profit taxes, business taxes and stamp duty.
