Manabat Sanagustin is part of KPMG. Head of tax Emmanuel Bonoan has overseen extensive growth to the tax team, now comprising seven partners and 75 fee earners. Manuel Salvador and Maria Maralit were promoted to partner in December 2010.
The tax team in October 2010 negotiated with the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) and helped draft regulations defining objective criteria for Filipino managers and technical employees working in regional operating headquarters to enjoy tax incentives. The regulations have had a positive effect on the way regional operating headquarters do business in the Philippines, helping to simplify bureaucracy.
KPMG act as tax counsel to the Bankers Association of the Philippines, assisting them in formulating tax policy and on an engagement strategy with the tax authorities.
