Kocián Solc Balastík is viewed by the market as probably the best local tax firm in the Czech Republic. The group is headed by Helena Navrátilová and is made up of six practitioners. The practice advises on nearly every area of business tax including VAT, corporate tax, tax planning, dispute resolution and consumer and energy tax.
This year the group advised OKD, the mining company, in litigation about the deductibility of costs relating to external financing of dividends. The Supreme Court decision in the case is seen as a potential watershed concerning deductibility rules. Navrátilová and Jan Cernohouz also advised Michel Thierry Group on transfer pricing after the acquisition of another company which had significant R&D functions.
Other clients they have worked for this year include Ceská Televize, Garrigues, AGC Flat Glass, and Cramo Oy.
