The tax practice at Filipov & Partners is headed by founding partner Velin Filipov who is described as "leading name" within the Bulgarian tax market. An ex-Ministry of Finance professional where he advised on legislative changes to Bulgarian corporate tax law, he formed the practice in 2007 which has established a good foothold in the market since.
The practice offers a good range of general advisory services including some corporate tax work and tax disputes work, ranging from assistance during audits and also administrative appeals. The practice is particularly experienced in any dealings with the authorities and continues to deliver opinions to various tax commissions of the Bulgarian Parliament.
The firm has a good range of clients and often gets referral work from the larger accountancy firms and law firms. Clients they have worked for include a large confectionery company, a major Bulgarian bank, a large Bulgarian investment company and a global technology company.
