Avishai Shachar, the head of the tax department, and Neil Barr were part of the Davis Polk & Wardwell team that advised Comcast in connection with its $37 billion NBC Universal joint venture with General Electric. The joint venture will be 51% owned by Comcast, 49% owned by GE and managed by Comcast and closed in January 2011. In another transaction in October 2010 Michael Mollerus and associate Devasish Majumdar worked with colleagues from the firm to advise Quicksilver Resources, a Fort Worth, Texas-based oil and gas exploration and production company, on the $1 billion sale of Quicksilver Gas Services, a north Texas-based natural gas exploration and processing company to First Reserve Crestwood Holdings, a portfolio company of the private equity firm First Reserve.
