Baniqued & Baniqued is an established law firm in the Philippines. Carlos Baniqued leads the tax practice comprising five partners and four fee earners. The department advises multinational companies on a full range of Philippine tax issues and provides strategic tax planning for cross-border transactions, selecting business vehicles, identifying restructuring approaches, and developing tax-efficient acquisitions. The firm also advises on tax controversy and litigation.
Terence Bello, Bernadette Quiroz and Emma Lim advised on and implemented the merger of two subsidiaries into the parent company, and a statutory merger of two landholding companies belonging to the same group. The reorganisation streamlined operational efficiency and achieved significant tax savings for the merged companies.
Other recent work includes representing a client in its claim for a refund of excise taxes on petroleum products sold to international carriers and advising another client on the tax issues concerning the reorganisation of its operating companies in the Philippines.
