Chevez Ruiz Zamarripa y Cia maintains a strong first tier position this year, with exceptional market recognition. The firm makes a point of not hiring lateral partners, preferring to promote associates once their training with the firm is complete. The firm's client list includes the largest multinationals from all over the world. In the last 12 months the tax group has been involved in six of the 10 largest transactions in Mexico, as well as helping coordinate the largest bilateral advance pricing agreement in existence between Mexico and the US. The group saw some attrition with lawyers going to clients, but this is not looked upon as a negative at all: "It is helpful to have such strong ties to clients' in-house groups," says a senior partner at the firm.
