Oppenhoff & Partner was formed out of the Cologne office of Linklaters. Despite its relatively small size, comprising six professionals, there is a good breadth to the services offered by the practice. The practice is headed by Axel Bödefeld.
Unusually when compared to other German law firms the practice is strong in transfer pricing, regularly advising clients on the implementation and documentation of the best transfer pricing methodology.
The practice also has substantial experience defending clients during audits or in the courts. Gunnar Knorr recently advised a French multinational on the payment of management fees out of its foreign affiliates. The practice is also one of the few law firms to have represented a client under the EU Arbitration Convention.
At the same time, transactional work also makes up a sizeable chunk of the practice's revenue. Examples of work this year include advising AG, Phönix/Strack Group on the sale of all shares to AXA Private Equity, and advising the Wegmann Group on the assumption of the Siemens shares in Krauss-Maffei Wegmann. Additional clients include Johnson & Johnson, Ford, Bristol-Myers Squibb and M.DuMont Schauberg.
