Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman's New York tax practice, headed by firmwide practice leader James Chudy and New York practice leader Harsha Reddy, is primarily transactional. Its 33-member team advises across a spectrum of tax issues that includes securitisations, complex extensions of credit, structured finance, international transaction planning, energy tax credit planning, cross-border finance, inbound and outbound securities offerings, M&A and joint ventures. The practice represented US-based Tenaska Energy in connection with its $476 million development and financing of the Imperial Solar Energy Center South, a 130-megawatt solar project in Imperial County, California, which was financed with construction loans and a cash grant bridge loan provided by a syndicate of mostly non-US banks. This was the largest ever bank financing for a solar energy company in the US.
