Legance's tax practice was formed in January 2007 by a mixture of professionals from Gianni Origoni Grippo & Partners and Chiomenti Studio Legale. The team has grown to eight professionals. The practice is headed by Claudia Gregori and Marco Graziani.
The team has worked on some big structured finance and private equity deals in recent months. Gregori and Giulia Cipollini advised Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena on a €1.5 billion securitisation in which, for the first time in Italy, asset-backed securities originated by private entities were offered to retail investors.
Graziani advised DeA Capital on the acquisition of a controlling stake in Fimit SGR and the merger of Fimit with Atlantic SGR to create the largest Italian real estate fund. This involved the issuance of quasi-equity instruments to deliver carried interest payments to the previous shareholders. Other clients include Wise SGR, ING Italy and Infront Motorsports.
