The tax practice at Willkie Farr & Gallagher is co-headed by Pierre Ullmann and Marie-Hélène Raffin. Raffin is often mentioned in the market as one of the leading French practitioners. "She is certainly one of the most well-known, if not the best practitioner in France in tax restructuring work."
The team of five has extensive experience in corporate tax, including M&A, group restructuring and joint ventures. This year Raffin advised PAI Partners in the sale of an interest in Yoplait to General Mills in one of the most high-profile leveraged buyouts in France this year.
Philippe Grudé also advised a private-equity group on its contemplated €1 billion sale of French insurance broker Compagnie Europeenne de Prevoyance. This involved the negotiation of a double LuxCo structure by the vendor. Grudé also advised the group on the leveraged buyout of Kilotou.
Other clients they have worked for this year include the Lagardère group, Rantstad, Aérospatiale Protection Systems and Elior.
