Chapman Tripp's tax team is led by the highly recommended Casey Plunket, who advises on the tax aspects of corporate transactions as well as tax disputes with the revenue authorities.
The firm has been significantly strengthened by the arrival of consultant David Patterson from Minter Ellison Rudd Watts in late 2010. He specialises in commercial transactions and tax law, with a focus on international and corporate tax.
Graeme Olding was made partner in December 2010. Co-leader of the firm's tax litigation practice, he also advises on M&A transactions and tax disputes.
Olding is advising on the tax aspects of the merger between MARAC Finance, CBS Canterbury and Southern Cross Building Society, to form a NZ$2.2 billion listed financial services group intended to become New Zealand's only listed registered bank.
Chapman Tripp has also been involved in tax advisory work on M&A and the GST rate change, and is engaged in compliance and structuring work on covered bond programmes.
