Despite being a new player in the tax market, the Llinks taxation and customs team – under the leadership of David Yu – is establishing a name for itself as a leading legal tax practice.
Yu and partner Clare Lu advised a Fortune 500 electronics manufacturing firm in a tax inspection case and follow-up business restructuring. In 2010, a subsidiary of the company was involved in a tax bureau investigation against its co-operator in an export business. Yu and Lu helped the client prepare an explanation for the bureau, negotiate with its co-operator, and mitigate risks in the process.
Lu is advising a multinational corporation in the fashion industry on restructuring a new business model and establishing an internal tax risk control system for its Chinese retail business. The project involves restructuring more than 3000 existing retail stores and more than 500 potential stores for internal tax risk control purposes. The first phase of the project was successfully completed in 2010.
