Partner Michael Clough has been noted by competitors for his knowledge and expertise in tax controversy and litigation matters.

The firm's tax lawyers acted for AXA Asia Pacific in the successful outcome to a dispute with the ATO over the tax consequences arising from the sale of AXA Health Insurance Australia, its wholly-owned subsidiary.

The team also acted for BHP Billiton in one of the nation's biggest tax disputes, taken to the High Court in December 2010. The dispute surrounds the issues of deductibility of expenditure and the financing costs of multi-billion dollar investments.
